Part of the Ejido lands are inside the Ciénega de Santa Clara (2180 hectares) and the damping zone of the Biosphere Reserve of the High Gulf of California and Colorado River Delta. The Ejido has an area of 5,457 hectares, of which 655 ha are destinated to agriculture, but just 291 have water rights for irrigation. More than 80% of the territory (4,770 hectares) are communal, and in the damping zone of the Biosphere Reserve. The Ejido has approximately 25% of the Ciénega de Santa Clara, the biggest marshland in the Sonora Desert: 6,000 hectares dominated by cattail. It supports numerous residents and migratory birds, including 6000 endangered Yuma Clapper Rail, a bird now rare on the United States stretch of the Colorado River
