Presentation Preliminary Results BIOSAFOR

BIOSAFOR consists of six work packages, of which each is devoted to one objective. Work packages 1, 2 and 3 build the fundamental Assessment of Data and Information.

In WP 1 tree species are screened in pot trials according to their behaviour in saline environments. In WP 2 case study areas with their tree species are described and sampled in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. In WP 3 saline areas are categorized on a regional and global scale based on available soil and water data.

In work packages 4 and 5 are a phase of analysis, while work package 6 develops recommendations and policy measures. In WP 4 the global biomass potential from saline environments is analysed.

In WP 5 supply chains for biosaline biomass, e.g. pulp or timber form biosaline plants are developed from the farmer to the consumer. WP 6 concentrates on resulting policy measures, e.g. regarding biomass supply, economic and environmental measures.
