Cooperation between 3 partners
Three organisations join their efforts to perform the viability study. OASE and the Central Soil Salinity Research Insitute in Karnal are already partners in the BIOSAFOR research project. The third organisation, Development Alternatives, is one of India’s most important development organisations, based in Delhi and with a 25 years record in community based project development.

The three organisations are complementary:
Development Alternatives specialises and has considerable experience in community based project development (capacity building, awareness, introduction new technologies) based on commercial principles;
CSSRI-Karnal stands for 35 years of scientific research on biosaline crops and salt tolerant trees including the development of biosaline agronomic management systems adapted to the needs and possibilities of local communities;
OASE can contribute know how on the completion of sustainable agricultural value chains, has experience in international project development including composition, financing, and managing. As a result of her being embedded in an international network for sustainable development, OASE can raise the interest of international companies and organisations for the project.

May 29th the participating organisations had a meeting in the Delhi-offices of Development Alternatives. They agreed on the steps to be taken for the viability study and the contribution that can be expected from each of them. The study will be completed end 2007.
